US Taekwondo Center was found over 40 years ago, originally based in Montebello and now in Monterey Park. We teach students of all ages the values of martial arts and ranging from discipline in the home life to confidence toward everyday life. In addition, we provide a mode of physical fitness, weight control, and stress relief.
Our mission is to:
1. Guide student of all ages to reach their goals and their maximum potential, enhancing the quality of each individual's life.
2. Foster individual internalization of Taekwondo - achieving equilibrium and making it possible for everyone to experience physical, mental, and spiritual harmony.
3. Encourage students to channel positive outcome of accomplished goals and internal balance into the community that surrounds them.
Grandmaster Hyung Sun Kim
Grandmaster Hyung Sun Kim is the founder of US Taekwondo Center. He is a former Korean National Champion and a former head coach for Team USA. He has been teaching Taekwondo since 1976 and still continues to this day.
Master Kim believes first and foremost that Taekwondo teaches confidence and discipline. Through these two principles, you can achieve anything in life. That is not to say neglect physical training; but to rather reflect your mental discipline through your physical activity.
